Programs

  • olunteers will play a pivotal role in mentoring and empowering 11th-grade students as they navigate the exciting journey of college preparation at Cross Keys High School. We guide the students through all aspects of the college application process and provide them with a foundation for academic, financial, and career readiness.

  • Partnering with the Barack & Michelle Obama (BaMO) Academy, BaMO Young Kings was created in 2021 to provide 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade boys with more male role models to support their academic and social-emotional development.

  • Volunteers will be facilitating virtual and in-person college prep for high school students involved with the non-profit Optimize the Vizion.

  • The Model United Nations program strives to encourage involvement in global affairs by high school students, both increasing civic engagement and building well rounded global citizens. Students train in conducting research of international conflicts and converting research into policy.  The program nurtures the public speaking, leadership, and relationship building skills necessary for the future leaders of our communities and nation.

  • The College Exposure program collaborates with community partners and Atlanta Public Schools to support students in their pursuit of higher education. Through Emory and Georgia Tech campus visits students learn about campus life, academics, and the college application and selection process.

Past Programs

  • From 2022-2023, Emory students visited to Maynard Jackson High School to facilitate a college preparatory program. Students were taught how to explore schools they are interested in and which ones are a good fit for them.

  • Raíces is a campus organization at Emory that empowers students who are undocumented or have immigrant ties. Through collaboration with Cross Keys Avid and GradGen, Raíces provides support to high-school students as they navigate the transition from high school to adulthood. Raíces helps offer tutoring, post-high school information, workshops, and lessons to help students prepare for the challenges they may encounter after graduation. Together with Cross Keys Avid, Raíces empowers students to pursue their dreams and build successful futures.

  • From 2021-2023, the EmPower Academy taught students from several Atlanta public middle schools the environmental impacts of energy consumption and usage, personal financing as it relates to reducing energy usage, basic mechanical concepts behind how energy efficient improvements work, and how to use certain energy auditor tools to assess a building’s energy consumption.

  • Our Druid Hills College Prep program strives to motivate and inspire students at Druid Hills High School to attend college by providing them with weekly application workshops and mentorships.

  • Black is Gold University consists of Black collegiate women that are dedicated to empowering Black women across their college campuses, serving local communities, mentoring young women in high school, and building sisterhood. They were an affiliate program of GradGen and assisted with the Cross Keys High School AVID Tutoring and Mentoring program and the Maynard Jackson High School College Prep program.
